Do you inspect food establishments? Then you are aware of the outdated MGL c.94 Section 305D, which indicates that all restaurants with a capacity of 25 persons or more “require a device approved by the department of public health (DPH) that is designed and intended for use in removing food which may become lodged in a person’s throat” or an employee trained in manual, DPH-approved procedures for food removal.
If you own a restaurant with 24 seats, will choking not occur? What is this “Device” they refer to? Seven years ago and with these questions, Robin Williams approached Representative Balser to change this Statute. They are making great progress, but they need your help.
How can you help? Email your Representatives and Senators, both where you work and live, and ask them to cosponsor the Choke Save Bill. The more cosponsors, the better.
