The Leicester Regional Public Health Coalition is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time position of Regional Health Agent. This role primarily involves working within the member towns served by the Coalition.
Position Overview:
Under a multi-town agreement, the Regional Health Agent is responsible for a wide range of public health duties, including but not limited to:
- Conducting routine inspections of food service establishments, Title 5 septic systems, housing, pools, and other regulated facilities
- Investigating complaints and enforcing the Massachusetts State Sanitary Code
- Ensuring compliance with state and local public health laws, regulations, and policies
- This position may require occasional evening or weekend work, including emergency response duties.
Recommended Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, Environmental Health, or a closely related field
- 1–3 years of relevant field experience performing inspections in areas such as housing, food service, pools, septic systems, or other environmental health fields
- Appropriate certifications for environmental health code enforcement preferred
- Special Requirements within 18 months after Hire:
- Registered Sanitarian (RS) or equivalent within 6 years of hire
- Foundations in Public Health course within 18 months
- As applicable, specific certifications for inspections performed, such as soil evaluator, system inspector, food inspector training, housing inspection training, certified pool operator/certified pool inspector, lead determinator within 1 year of hire
- Valid Massachusetts driver’s license with a good driving record
Salary: $64,016 – $81,048 annually, depending on qualifications (based on a 38-hour work week)
