Seeking a highly qualified individual as department head with a minimum of five years experience in a supervisory capacity to provide professional assistance to the Board of Selectmen/Board of Health in regulation and policy development. Responsible for the Health Department oversight and operations, receipts, reporting and budgets for the Public Health Nurse section, Sanitarian section and Animal Control.
Review applications for alteration and/or construction of all establishments licensed by the Board, including but not limited to COVID-19 issues, rest homes, day care centers, food service establishments, motels, hotels, public and semi-public swimming pools, animal facilities, all aspects of Title 5 as required by state and local regulations relative to tobacco and synthetic drugs, tanning, drinking water, nuisance and housing complaints and environmental protection. Perform public education outreach, emergency preparedness planning/ coordination and grant writing for programs. Perform any other duties to protect the public and environmental health as needed and required by state and local rules, regulations, laws, and bylaws.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants shall have a valid driver’s license, be available for emergency response and callouts, work well with local, state and federal agencies and the public; be certified as a Registered Sanitarian, Soil Evaluator, Septic Inspector, Food Service, Housing, and Pool Operator. Prefer relevant Master’s Degree and Certified Health Officer.
