MEHA supports incoming local public health professionals who are passionate about current public health challenges and those who are interested in discovering innovative solutions to these issues. MEHA promotes and fosters the high standards of attainment for the professional registered environmental health specialist and other environmental health certifications. Allowing new professionals to discuss current and looming environmental health issues, engage in environmental trainings, and build lasting networks is a pillar for what MEHA stands for.
This year past year has been uniquely challenging for all local public health professionals. In an effort to continue our support to emerging professionals, MEHA is offering 5 individual REHS/RS online practice exams and 3 individual CP-FS practice exams for our members. The MEHA Emerging Professionals Scholarship will be awarded to a MEHA member with a preference for those in their first 5 years of their environmental health career and those who cannot receive financial support from their employer in acquiring the credentials.
Applications should include:
- 500 word essay describing a recent COVID-19 related challenge you have faced and overcome as an emerging public health professional. What did you learn from it? Conclude with how acquiring either the REHS/RS or CP-FS credentials will help you in your current role. Make sure to specify for which practice exam you are submitting the application (REHS/RS or CP-FS).
- Current resume
- Letter from current employer showing date of hire
- Proof from NEHA that you are able to sit for the credential examination for which you are applying.
All applications should be emailed to [email protected] by April 30, 2021 at 5:00 PM.
The scholarship committee will contact the recipient immediately following the deadline and will announce the awardee on the MEHA website and at MEHA's Annual Seminar in May 2021.
