The Town of Milford seeks qualified applications for the position of Director of Public Health Will be responsible for planning, implementing, managing and accessing the Town of Milford’s public and environmental health efforts, including disease control programs, promotion of sanitary conditions, protection of environment from damage and pollutions, and enforcement of public health and environmental laws and regulations as related to food safety, Title 5, swimming pools, recreational camps, housing, nuisance condition and private wells. Responsible for assisting in emergency preparedness, sheltering and emergency response. Presently oversees the Town’s rubbish/recycling curbside program as well as Milford’s Transfer Recycling Center. Supervises assigned staff and subcontracted inspectors.
Qualifications and experience include: Bachelor of Science Degree in public health, biological sciences, or related field; three to five years of experience in public health program with at least one year in an administrative capacity involving state environmental or public health code inspections and enforcement, including the sanitary code, subsurface sewage disposal, solid waste disposal, air and water quality, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Good computer skills and the ability to communicate orally and in writing, prepare technical reports dealing with inspections results and correction orders. Registration as a Sanitarian preferred and required within on year of employment. Master’s degree in public/environmental health a plus.
