The City of Attleboro Health Department seeks a Deputy Health Agent, who works under the direction of the Health Agent, in accordance with state laws and regulations, performs inspection work in enforcing the city’s public health programs and health laws and regulations.
Duties include assists in public health education programs including conducting classes and public presentations. Conducts sanitary and environmental inspections and initiates enforcement. Participates in environmental health programs including housing and civil defense programs. Inspects sanitary conditions in food manufacture and distribution and restaurants and all types of food establishments. Provides supervision of certain sanitary conditions for public places and buildings including hospitals, schools, nursing homes, etc. Assists in the investigation of food borne disease outbreaks. Inspects dwellings for lead paint and housing code violations. Oversees percolation tests and inspection of subsurface disposal systems. Attends all court hearings on public health orders. Performs work as required.
Requires a bachelor’s degree in public health or a related field and two years’ experience in public health, environmental health, or sanitary engineering and state registration as a sanitarian or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Inspection experience preferred. Thorough knowledge of codes and laws relevant to public health and sanitation conditions. Working knowledge of current inspection and control procedures. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Requires valid state driver’s license and state certification as a lead inspector.
